Hindrances to baptism

• Age uncertainty.  When is a child old enough? Ephesians 6:1; Mark 10:20: 2 Timothy 3:15, Ecclesiastes 12:1

• Lack of understanding. Understanding is necessary to obedience, John 6:44.  We must understand these facts about baptism:

  • It is immersion - not sprinkling

  • It is to be done in water -- not Holy Spirit or fire

  • It is to be done to one who is capable of belief and repentance.

  • It is necessary for salvation, Galatians 3:27; 1 Peter 3:21

  • It is a divine command of God  Acts 10:33-34, 48

• Prejudice & sentiment, Luke 12:51, Acts 4:19

• Indifference & procrastination

The Bible offers no hope for those who have not obeyed the gospel (2 Thessalonians 1:7-8)
